The show starred Bob Newhart as Robert "Bob" Hartley, PhD., a psychologist who lives in Chicago with his wife Emily (Suzanne Pleshette) and their two daughters, Leslie and Jennifer. Other cast members included Bill Daily as Howard Borden, Marcia Wallace as Carol Kester, and Mary Frann as Joanne Girard.
