Ronaldo's Hat-trick Sends United Fourth

Spurs Seek League Double

Ronaldo Surpasses International Goals Record

Cristiano Ronaldo produced a stunning hat-trick as Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 to move into fourth place in the Premier League and take his tally of international goals to 118, surpassing the previous record held by Iran's Ali Daei.

Tottenham were looking to complete their first league double over United since the 1989-90 season, but Ronaldo's heroics proved too much for Antonio Conte's side.

The Portuguese superstar opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a brilliant solo effort, before setting up Edinson Cavani for United's second just after the hour mark.

Harry Kane pulled one back for Spurs with a penalty in the 70th minute, but Ronaldo restored United's two-goal lead with a superb free-kick just two minutes later.

Son Heung-min gave Tottenham hope with a goal in the 77th minute, but Ronaldo's hat-trick sealed the win for United and moved him to the top of FIFA's all-time goalscoring charts.

The result leaves United fourth in the Premier League, three points behind Tottenham in third and six points behind leaders Manchester City.

Ronaldo's hat-trick was his second of the season for United and his 59th in the Premier League. It also moved him to 118 international goals, surpassing Iran's Ali Daei as the all-time leading goalscorer for a men's national team.

Ronaldo's performance was a reminder of his enduring quality and will give United fans hope that they can still challenge for a top-four finish this season.
