MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (AP) - Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves seized control of the series with a firm 106-99 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, putting the Wolves into a first-place tie in the Western Conference.

Edwards led the Timberwolves with 29 points, while D'Angelo Russell added 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Aaron Gordon added 20 points and Jamal Murray chipped in 17 points.

The Timberwolves have now won three of their last four games and are 3-3 on the season. The Nuggets have lost three of their last four games and are 2-4 on the season.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Denver.
