"For personal reasons, I'm going to have to leave the show," Anderson said in a video message. "I would like to say thank you to all my supporters and everyone who voted for me."

Anderson's departure comes as a surprise to many, as she was considered one of the favorites to win the competition. She had performed consistently well throughout the season, earning praise from the judges for her powerful vocals and stage presence.

Anderson's exit leaves the competition with three finalists: Noah Thompson, Leah Marlene, and HunterGirl. The finale of American Idol Season 20 will air on ABC on May 22.
