Northern Ireland Defender Jonny Evans Returns to Manchester United

Eight Years After Leaving, Evans Re-Signs with Former Club

One-Year Deal Secured for Experienced Defender

Belfast, Northern Ireland - In a move that has surprised many, Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans has rejoined Manchester United eight years after leaving the club. The experienced defender has signed a one-year deal with the Red Devils, bringing him back to Old Trafford where he played from 2007 to 2015.

Evans, who has made over 80 appearances for Northern Ireland, left Manchester United in 2015 to join West Bromwich Albion. He spent four seasons with the Baggies before moving to Leicester City in 2018. He was released by Leicester at the end of last season, making him a free agent.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been looking to strengthen his defense this summer, and Evans' arrival will provide him with some much-needed experience. The 35-year-old has played over 300 Premier League games and has also represented Northern Ireland at major tournaments such as the European Championship and the World Cup.

Evans is expected to play a significant role for Manchester United this season, particularly in the Europa League where they will be hoping to challenge for the trophy. He will also provide cover for Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, who are the club's first-choice central defenders.
